Galesburg Bar Shut Down for Minors Present
A Galesburg bar was shut down early Thursday morning after a number of minors were found in the business.

According to police reports, just before 1:00 a.m. an officer was conducting a routine check of Cherry Street Restaurant and Bar next door and noticed a group of young people in GP's Lounge at 65 South Cherry Street.

After requesting other officers to respond, two entered through the front doors of GP's Lounge and two through the back to check IDs.

17 minors, many of which are believed to be college students, were lined up once IDs were checked and officers shut down the bar after asking all other patrons to leave.

Their ages range from 18 to 20 years old, and most are from Galesburg.
Each person was issued a citation for frequenting a bar as a minor and then all were released.

19 year old Jamie Galante of Berkeley, Illinois was arrested after leaving the bar and kicking the picture window in the front of the business. She is charged with breach of peace.
