State Treasurer Boasts Accomplishments
(IRN)-State Treasurer Dan Rutherford isn't shy when it comes to talking about his accomplishments. He says he has accomplished a lot during his first 100 days in office.

He says it's not unusual for newly elected officials, or newly hired CEOs, to talk to their constituents, or board of directors, about the benchmarks they created when assuming office, and whether those benchmarks have been met.

For example, Rutherford says it's his job as treasurer to protect and invest Illinois' assets. He believes he's done that by revamping the program formerly known as Cultivate Illinois by rebranding it as Ag Invest. It allows individual farmers to borrow up to $120,000, and groups up to $240,000 at a maximum interest rate of 4.5 percent.

"I'm not looking to keep a program just because it was there before," Rutherford says. "If there is no demand, if it's not configured right, we either change it or we eliminate it. The agriculture community has told me that we do want and need to have a program like this."

Rutherford also reiterated his commitment to saving money wherever possible, including a reduction in state owned cell phones and vehicles within the office.
