Blago to Teens: Politics is Disillusioning
OAK BROOK, Ill. (AP) -- Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich has told hundreds of high school students that politics is a disillusioning profession full of cynical people, and he hopes his children stay away from it.

But the impeached former leader also told the students Saturday morning that they need to stay interested in politics for the future of the country.

Blagojevich delivered a keynote speech at a spring convention of the Junior State of America program.

The national civics organization invited him to talk about modern politics. But Blagojevich spent most of his time defending himself, saying he expects to be vindicated at his upcoming political corruption retrial.

He also participated in a "Jeopardy!"-style game to raise money for victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

His retrial is set for April 20.
