Moderate Illinois River Flooding Likely This Week
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) -- The National Weather Service is forecasting minor to moderate flooding on the Illinois River over the next few days.

The weather service said Monday that a week of on-and-off rain made flooding likely from LaSalle all the way to Grafton where the Illinois River spills into the Mississippi River.

The river was about a foot above flood stage Monday in Peoria but isn't expected to rise to damaging levels there.

Farther south, the weather service says minor to moderate flooding is also expected along the Little Wabash River in the Clay City area. Similar conditions are forecast along the Embarras River in Lawrenceville and on the southern reaches of the Wabash River on the Illinois-Indiana state line.

Forecasters expect more rain this week for much of Illinois.
