Brandon Melton Remembered
Candles spelled out the name Brandon with a heart around it in the middle of the Knoxville High School football field Tuesday night.

Beyond that hundreds of people stood holding more candles and remembering 15 year old Brandon Melton, a freshman at KHS, who passed away Friday in a tragic car accident.

A candlelight vigil was organized by Knoxville students including 15 year old Kelly Lenz who remembers Brandon as always having a smile on his face.

"He was a great kid, like he never had a bad day and if anybody was upset or whatever, you know, he would be one to cheer everybody up. He was a goofball and he could put a smile on any body's face, I could be in a bad mood and just seeing him smile, it just put me in a better mood."

Though there were tears Tuesday night, there were many smiles too as friends and family shared stories about the student-athlete and his ability to bring joy to others.

Brandon was killed in a car accident where the driver, 19 year old Jose Beltran faces alcohol related charges, but has posted bail and been released from the Knox County Jail.
