Blagojevich Retrial to Call Witnesses Monday
(IRN)-The first witness will take the stand Monday in the re-trial of former Governor Rod Blagojevich, shortly after a jury is impaneled and opening statements are delivered.

Judge James Zagel said Thursday he'd let prosecutors put their first witness on the stand Monday. That will be an FBI agent who is to talk about the secret surveillance of Blagojevich.

That testimony will come after final decision on who will sit on the jury and opening statements. Both sides estimate that they will need about an hour apiece for opening statements.

Forty-five out of the around 100 people questioned over five days remain in the jury pool.

Blagojevich's attorney Sheldon Sorosky raised his concerns to Zagel, questioning the racial makeup of the potential jury. He later told reporters that he hopes the government wants a jury that "reflects the entire community" and the "diversity of that community."

The final stage of jury selection comes Monday when both sides get to strike would-be jurors without having to give a reason.
