Master Facilities Plan Work Officially Kicked Off
Officials and school board members in the Galesburg School District were in a mood to celebrate Thursday.

District-205 Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Guy Cahill leading a balloon launch to kick off in a formal sense the district's Master Facilities Plan, dubbed Operation Re-build Achievement.

The $110 million plan will start with the first $30 million worth of work to be done at Steele, Lombard, Lincoln, and Galesburg High Schools.

District Superintendent Gene Denisar says yesterday marked, in his words, a point of departure.

"For the last year and a half groups of volunteers have been working tirelessly to develop a plan, to garner support for that plan, to pass the penny sales tax, to identify a professional support team and to approve the work that has been done creating Opertation Rebuild Achievement."

Design work for the first phase next week, with the development of design charts. A meeting on the work for Lombard will be held next Thursday afternoon at Lombard Middle School.
