Immigrant Rights Protest to Be Held in Chicago
CHICAGO (AP) -- Immigrants and activists in Chicago plan to continue their tradition of holding an immigration rights rally on May Day.

The events scheduled for Sunday will start at a park on the city's West Side and end in Chicago's heavily Latino Pilsen neighborhood.

Past marches have ended in the federal plaza downtown, but the site is under construction.

Marches are being held across the country to demand comprehensive immigration reform and rights for workers.

Turnout has fallen sharply since the first nationwide rallies in 2006, when more than 1 million people clogged streets and brought downtown traffic to a standstill.

The first rally drew 400,000 people in Chicago alone in 2006, but that number had fallen to 15,000 and fewer in subsequent years.
