Light Agenda for Galesburg City Council
The agenda set for Monday night is a fairly light one for Galesburg City Council members.

Among other things, the council will vote on a resolution to enter into a Tourism Promotion Agreement with the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce. The agreement is made each year between the city and the chamber to determine the amount of revenue the chamber will receive from the city's hotel-motel tax.

This year's agreement would set the revenue sharing at the same level as last year's, about 43 percent. The city estimates that will be about $171,000. The agreement also stipulates the chamber will create a tourism and marketing program for Galesburg and Knox County as well as maintain a tourism council all in coordination with the city's economic development team.

Council members will also consider an annual $1 lease agreement with the chamber for the Welcome Center operated by the Galesburg Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

In other business, the council could a $9,000 contract with a local engineering firm for work on the McClure Street Bridge over Cedar Creek.

The regular scheduled meeting of the city council will be tonight at 6:30 in city hall.
A meeting regarding the fire department promotion process will take place before that at 5:45pm.
