Storms and Broken Records in Local Weather
The unusual weather pattern of the last few weeks is definitely continuing. Just ask anyone who might have been outside Sunday.

The National Weather Service says the temperature topped out at 84 degrees in Galesburg. That's a full 10 degrees warmer than what they forecast, but also breaks a record of 80 degrees set in 1978.

Forecasters say the warmth came ahead of a line of showers and thunderstorms that resulted in tornado watches in the Quad Cities area and down into Warren County, and later a Severe Thunderstorm watch for the Galesburg area.

While some storms were heavier closer to the Quad Cities, there are no major reports of damage here Sunday night. Forecasters say the only significance in the severe weather was a 58-miles per hour wind gusts clocked in the Canton area at one point.

Topsy-turvy weather continues this week, with temperatures falling throughout the day Monday, but warming up by Wednesday when more thunderstorms come into the forecast. Temperatures could again flirt with 70 by the weekend.
