School Officials Still Frustrated with State Budget
The Superintendent of the Monmouth-Roseville School District is still none too thrilled with how the state deals with its budget -- specifically, for education.

Paul Woehlke says he's not really hearing much about the budget these days, outside of the fact there's the governor's proposal to increase education spending, versus lawmakers' proposal to cut hundreds of millions of dollars in that line item alone.

Woehlke tells WGIL while that leaves open the possibility of compromise on some sort of budget, that's also not helpful right now.

"That means we really don't have any basis to do any planning on at this point, if that's the case, in the past we can at least take the State Board of Education or governor's budget as some rough approximation as what the final budget might end up being. But in this case this year it sounds like there may not be any sight into what it's going to look like."

What's more, local school districts just mostly made their annual Reductions in Force -- usually until grant funding or enrollment figures are known for the coming school year.

Woehlke says even that is made more of a chore without some sort of budget road map.
