Polls Open Across Illinois for Municipal Elections
Voters across Illinois are deciding the makeup of city councils, school boards, and fire and library districts, among other municipal bodies.

Polls opened at 6 a.m. Tuesday across the state. They'll close at 7 p.m.
County clerks say they expect turnout of anywhere from 15 to 60 percent, depending on the area.

Election officials say turnout will likely be highest in areas with hotly contested races, including city council races in Bloomington and Normal in central Illinois, in Marion in southern Illinois and school district races in Franklin County and the Rockford area.

Voters will also be asked to weigh in on issues including sales tax increases, bond issuances and school annexations, depending on where they live.
Elections are also taking place in Chicago and suburban Cook County.
