Orpheum Theater Receives Grant from BNSF
FIRST REPORTED 3:00pm 4/5/11 Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway is giving back to Galesburg's Orphuem Theatre in a big way.

Tuesday BNSF Terminal Superintendent Rick Danielson and Director of Public Affairs Amy McBeth presented a $25,000 check to Theatre President Kate Francis.

McBeth tells WGIL that BNSF wants to support the Galesburg community which plays an important role in the company.

"Well Galesburg is of course a major part of BNSF's network across the country and it's just a significant community for us, we have lots of employees here, lots of families here who benefit from the Orpheum in addition to the family and employees of BNSF, we understand that the whole community can experience and enjoy the Orphem, so we're glad to be able to support it."

BNSF had pledged $7,500 to the Orphuem's H-VAC upgrade project in January but came up with surprise announcement of an additional $17,500.

The funds will be used to replace the building's heating and cooling system, which could cost up to $906,000.

Francis says so far $405,000 has been raised for the project, which they hope will be completed by 2012.
