Tax Filing Deadline Looms
CHICAGO (AP) -- Federal authorities are reminding Illinoisans about one of life realities, however unpleasant, U.S. income taxes are due in two weeks.

The IRS says it expects to receive around 2 million returns and 300,000 extension requests from state residents over the coming few weeks.

This year, the deadline falls on April 18.
IRS spokeswoman Sue Hales says you can ask for a six-month extension to file your return. But she warns that doesn't mean you can also put off paying any taxes you owe.

Filing electronically is another option.
Among the benefits of e-filing is that you usually get refunds back faster. If your adjusted gross income for 2010 was $58,000 or less, you can e-file for free using the IRS Free File program.
