Fire Damages Apartment Building in Wataga
An investigation is continuing into just what happened Tuesday to cause a fire to be set in an apartment building in Wataga.

Crews from Oneida-Wataga, Rio, Victoria, and Henderson all were called to the one-hundred block of South Willard Street in Wataga around four o'clock Tuesday afternoon. There, officials say a fire was seen shooting out of the windows of a crawlspace.

Authorities were able to contain the blaze to the crawlspace, while dealing with one big problem: having no water. The village's water tower has been under repair the last several days, so no water was in. Crews ended up using foam to put out the fire.

Firefighters believe the fire could have been electrical in nature, but they've called in investigators just to make sure.

No one was hurt. The fire was out in less than a half-hour. It did cause damage to the crawlspace, and melted some of the building's siding but caused no other major damage.
