Galva Feed Plant Fined for Thwarting Inspections
GALVA, Ill. (AP) -- A federal judge has ordered a Galva pet food processing plant to pay $42,000 for refusing to allow the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to inspect its facility.

U.S. District Judge Joe Billy McDade in Peoria imposed the fine after finding All-Feed Processing & Packaging Inc. in civil contempt of court.

The U.S. Department of Labor says the company would not allow OSHA to inspect the facility between May 4 and July 5, 2011.

OSHA acting regional administrator Greg Baxter says the agency sought court intervention to ensure worker safety at the Galva plant. He cited its ''continuous failure'' to allow proper inspections and a history of severe violations.

A telephone message could not be left with the company Tuesday evening and an email message was not immediately returned.
