One-man Motorcycle Crash Leads to Drug Charges
A Coal Valley man was busted for drugs in Galesburg Tuesday night after crashing his motorcycle.

According to a Galesburg Police report, 19-year-old Cody Battin crashed his bike in the area of South Henderson and West Main Streets around 8 P-M Tuesday night. Witnesses told police Battin was "popping a wheelie" before his motorcycle broke his fall and slid across the ground.

Police say blood was observed on the Yamaha's gas tank, and Battin had abrasions on his hands and knees. Paramedics treated Battin's injuries at the scene, but he refused any further treatment.

Battin was arrested, authorities say, because he was without a valid drivers license and registration. In conducting a search of his backpack, they discovered two large zip lock bags of suspected cannabis and a large metal knife. Records show the suspected drugs weighed 223 grams.

Reports indicate Battin told police he came to Galesburg to purchase seven or eight ounces of marijuana for $2,000 dollars, and was looking to make some extra money on it. He's being charged with possession of cannabis, between 30 and 500 grams, and possession with intent, among other charges.

An initial court appearance is pending.
