Chamber President Set to Retire
The head of the Galesburg-area Chamber of Commerce is ready to hand off the reins to someone else.

Chamber President Bob Maus says he told his board Monday that he will be retiring in July after 18 years, in order to give them plenty of time to find a successor.

Maus tells WGIL he'll still be plenty busy when he moves on.

"I look forward to continuing in those roles with those organizations," Maus said. "I think it's very important to be involved and engaged in your community and I'm looking forward to continuing those roles too."

Maus serves on the Knox County Civic Center Authority Board, the Workforce Investment Board, National Railroad Hall of Fame Board, Bridgeway's board, and others. He says they are things that are important to the community.

As for his replacement, Maus says the Chamber board is hopeful to have one in place by the time he retires.

He says he's proud of the growth the Chamber has seen over the years, including in the creation of task forces looking at governmental affairs, housing, and the environment among others.
