Health Department to Utilize Payroll Service
The Knox County Health Department will be utilizing an Iowa-based salary consultation service to help determine how their wages stack up against others.

Director of Family Health Rhonda Peterson says HK Payroll Services, Co. will also aid a growing staff for the health department-- which officials expect this year. Peterson runs down the benefits of HKP.

"Development of a 2012 salary step scale and recommendations, data processing and analysis, wage survey activities, and their fees shall be billed on a time and materials basis," Peterson said. "Based on past experience, we anticipate the fee for this engagement to be approximately $3,200 to $3,800."

Peterson says the service will be instituted for only a few months. She says the Dubuque company has experience analyzing health department wages in Jo Daviess and Stephenson Counties.

Board of Health member Doctor Tom West likes that track record. He says HKP will provide an excellent and cost-effective opportunity to get an outside, professional perspective on how their wages are constructed.
