Michigan Man Allegedly Steals Gas in Area
A Michigan man is in trouble with the law for allegedly stealing gasoline in Fulton County, and reportedly claims he's done it before.

The Fulton County Sheriffs Department says 35-year-old Jeffrey Stallings of Battle Creek, Michigan was arrested shortly after 9:15 a-m Sunday on Illinois Route 100, north of Lewistown.

A short-time before, sheriffs deputies say they received a call from an employee of a gas station in Cuba reporting that 52-dollars of gasoline had just been pumped without being paid for.

Sheriffs Deputies claim that Stallings admitted to committing similar gasoline thefts at other stations from Michigan to here, because he was short on cash.

A search of Stallings' vehicle allegedly turned up a drug-smoking pipe, so he was taken to the Fulton County Jail on charges of Theft and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Stallings is awaiting a date in court. Authorities say additional charges, or ones with stronger penalties, may be pending.
