Baby Hospitalized in Suspected Battery
A 10-week-old baby has been hospitalized after a Galesburg man allegedly battered the child.

Illinois State Police say 26-year-old Larry Pearcy is suspected of beating the baby a week ago. Around lunchtime Friday, they say Pearcy was arrested at his home, 615 East Fifth Street.

Troopers are providing no details into the nature of the suspected act or the physical force allegedly exerted-- only that the tot was life-flighted to OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria last Saturday. The extent of the child's injuries are unknown, but the baby is reportedly recovering and is expected to return home soon.

Pearcy has been charged with Class X Felony Aggravated Battery of a Child, Class Three Felony Aggravated Battery of a Child, and Class Two Felony Aggravated Domestic Battery.

He's jailed in Knox County on $250,000 dollars bond. A court appearance is pending.
