Man Charged with Teen Sex Assault Pleads Not Guilty
A former Galesburg resident accused of impregnating a 12-year old girl has pleaded not guilty to felony charges.

40-year old Ramsey Essex Senior of Lincoln, Nebraska pleaded not guilty to charges of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault and Criminal Sexual Assault during an appearance in Knox County Circuit Court this week. Court records also indicate a judge found probable cause for Essex to be tried on the charges.

Court filings accuse Essex of having sexual contact with the young girl for about a one-year time-frame starting in mid-December of 2005.

A baby the girl had allegedly was connected by D-N-A evidence to Essex.

The bond on a nationwide arrest warrant signed in early March was $200,000, 10-percent of which Essex would need to post in order to get out of jail.

His next court appearance is a pre-trial conference June 4th. Essex could face as much as 60 years in prison if convicted at trial.
