Scholarship Available for Area College-bound Women
Five-hundred dollars is up for grabs in a college scholarship contest for Galesburg-area women.

The Women's Issues Network is asking applicants to come by the Galesburg Area Convention and Visitors Bureau to pick up an application.

The Bureau's Executive Director Judy Guenseth tells the WGIL Evening News women must also submit an essay describing how their career choice can make an impact.

"It has to relevant to women in terms of your personal goals and where you're heading in life," she said. "Of course we are a Women's Issues Network group, and we want to support women. We also know that women have unique challenges and situations in their life that we celebrate, and we want this essay to reflect that as well."

Guenseth says essays must be at least five-hundred words in length, but no more than a thousand. She says applicants need a reference also who can attest to their prior achievements.

Eligible candidates include any female pursuing a college degree with a permanent address within thirty miles of Galesburg. Two winners will be announced next month.
