Galesburg Man Arrested After Threatening to Toss a Baby
A Galesburg man was arrested Saturday night in a domestic dispute that saw him allegedly trying to toss a baby into the air.

Galesburg Police say this was after 34-year-old Eric McKinney refused to release his nine-month old niece from his grasp. They say the baby's mother tried to pry the tot from him, but he became hostile and hit the mom.

Authorities responded to the residence in the four-hundred block of Yates Street after 10 PM. They say McKinney showed aggression and resisted arrest. He reportedly was under the influence of alcohol, and pretended to hurl the baby into the air.

At one point, police say, he seemed to roll over onto the baby on a couch while trying to keep her from authorities. Police were able to successfully get ahold of the nine-month old, who came away from the incident without any injury. They then tased McKinney twice before securing him in handcuffs.

McKinney is being charged with domestic battery and resisting a peace officer. A court appearance is pending.
