Maquon Men Arrested on Theft, Trespassing Charges

Two men from Maquon who were arrested on theft and trespassing charges earlier this week are accused of stealing a farm implement.

The Knox County Sheriff's Department says 30-year old Tadd Bugos and 22-year old Gregory Thurman were arrested Tuesday at residence at 122 West Street in Maquon.

Police say a man who lives at 534 Knox Road 1400 East told them his antique field cultivator was missing from his property and said he knew where it was at.

Deputies went to the location where the alleged theft occurred and obtained physical evidence that included tire and shoe impressions and possible DNA evidence. Authorities say the tire impressions appeared to be similar to a vehicle located at the West Street residence, which was towing the field cultivator.

Police obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence and say they recovered the missing field cultivator, various pieces of scrap metal, a set of brass knuckles and drug paraphernalia. Authorities believe Bugos and Thurman have been involved in taking scrap metal in Warren, Fulton, Peoria and Henry counties as well.

Both men are being held in the Knox County jail awaiting court appearances.
