Fatal Tractor Accident at Knox/Stark County Line

A Mississippi man is dead after he was working in a field along the Knox/Stark County Line late Thursday afternoon.

Knox County Coroner Mark Thomas says 67-year old Keith Huber of Gulfport, Mississippi was working in a ditch on private property at 2458 Knox Road 2350 East around 4:30 yesterday afternoon, when his tractor overturned as he was trying to move from one side of the ditch to another.

The tractor also caught fire, and Huber was believed to have been pinned inside the vehicle.

Thomas says he pronounced Huber dead at the scene just before six p-m.

Huber owned the land the fatal accident happened on and Thomas says he may have been looking to move back to the area.

Knox and Stark County Sheriffs Deputies, LaFayette First Responders, and ambulances from Galesburg and LaFayette all responded to the scene.
