Knoxville Man to find Private Council

A Knoxville man who is accused of sexual assault says he will hire a private attorney.

Twenty-year old Dominique McClendon made his first court appearance today with his pubic defender but told the Judge he plans on hiring private council to handle his case.

McClendon is charged with taking a woman against her will on a car ride through two counties and forcing her to perform sexual acts on him earlier this week.

He will next be in court on May 12th at 11am for a status hearing and according to Judge Steven Bordner no matter if McClendon has a private council hired or not a pretrial date will be set.

McClendon is being held in the Knox County Jail on 150-thousand dollars bond and is facing charges of Aggravated Unlawful Restraint and Criminal Sexual Assault.
