State: Don't Panic Over H1N1 Outbreak
Cases of H1N1, the "swine flu," now number three confirmed and 51 probable in Illinois, as of 10 a.m. Friday. Of those confirmed, two are in Chicago, and one is in DuPage County.

State public health director Dr. Damon Arnold describes the Illinois part of the outbreak as "mild," adding that tests are being saved for hospitalized or severely ill people. He says if you have minor flu symptoms, just stay home and ride it out.

Arnold, who adds the state is preparing to deploy medicine and other emergency supplies if necessary, is touting "the three C's": Clean your hands by washing them frequently; Cover your cough or sneeze, preferably with your sleeve or elbow if a tissue is not available; and Contain your germs by staying home if you are sick.

Arnold, joined at a news conference in the State Emergency Operations Center by emergency management director Andrew Velasquez, says it's important not to panic. He says the virus merits a lot of attention because it is so new.
