IDOT Secretary to Visit Galesburg
The man who oversees the Illinois Department of Transportation plans to be in Galesburg next week.

State Representative Don Moffitt says he invited IDOT Secretary Gary Hannig to visit the hump tower at the BNSF rail yard and Hannig accepted. Moffitt says Hannig will view first-hand the importance of the BNSF Railroad as the area's largest employer. The IDOT chief will also hear about the potential for expansion and job creation through capital projects funded by federal stimulus dollars and a possible state capital bill.

Moffitt says some of the potential projects might include funding for three grade separations - one each on East and West Main Streets and another on North Seminary Street - as well as sidings for the rail yard, improvements to the Galesburg Amtrak Depot and expansion there, creation of a third main line into the city and development of the National Railroad Hall of Fame.

Hannig's visit in Galesburg is planned for 10:30 Monday morning.
