City Council Will Consider Changes to Vacant Land Sales
The Galesburg City Council tonight will again consider, with changes, the sale of a number of city-owned properties.

Aldermen two weeks ago tabled a request to put up for sale over 65 properties the city has taken ownership of either through demolition proceedings or other means. The city has, in the past, required a development plan for any potential bidders on such properties and hasn't required minimum bids.

But tonight, following discussion at the last meeting, the city has put two suggestions on the table: one would still require a development plan, and the other would require no plan but a $1,500 minimum bid. Both are believed to be included in bid documents that can be obtained once the properties are put up for sale, if they are.

Aldermen tonight will also vote on a proposal that will allow the Knox County YMCA to construct a parking lot next to its Carl Sandburg Drive facility, and will consider passing a resolution urging legislators in Springfield to pass a capital plan before the adjourn this month.

The Galesburg City Council has a closed session at 6:30, and an open session at 7:30 -- all at Galesburg City Hall.
