Legislation to Prevent Blagojevich Profit from Impeachment Sent to Governor's Desk
It sailed out of the House a few weeks ago, and it unanimously passed the Senate Thursday - a bill that will block former Governor Rod Blagojevich from making any money off his impeachment experiences through a book, movie, radio, internet or television deal.

Not included in the measure (H.B. 4078) is an ousted official's family. This irked State Senator Dale Righter (R-Mattoon), who maintained that family should not be allowed to profit off the same misdeeds from which the official himself can't profit. But the bill's sponsor, State Senator Terry Link (D-Waukegan), says the family members wouldn't be the ones engaged in misconduct, and therefore it's unfair to punish them.

Righter was probably taking a stab at former First Lady Patti Blagojevich, who is set to appear on the reality TV show "I'm a Celebrity - Get Me Out of Here!" in place of her husband, who was denied the right to appear on the show by a judge.

H.B. 4078, which passed the House 112-2, passed the Senate 59-0 and now awaits the governor's signature.
