Warren County Accident Injures Three
POSTED 7:27 a-m 5/26/09 A woman was seriously hurt and two others were taken to the hospital following a three-vehicle accident in Warren County.

State Police at District 14 in Macomb say the crash happened around 11:15 a-m Monday on U-S Route 34 and U-S Route 67 at 185th Avenue near Monmouth.

Troopers say a pick-up truck driven by 57-year old Dorothy Essex of Oquawka failed to stop at a yield intersection and was hit broad side by a car driven by 62-year old Rebecca Kneedy of Macomb. A third vehicle, driven by 20-year old Nicholas Tomlin of Brookfield, Wisconsin, also struck the pick-up driven by Essex and then glanced off of Kneedy's car.

Police say Essex was airlifted to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria with serious injuries. A passenger in her vehicle, 55-year old David Essex of Oquawka, was taken to OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth with what officials described as moderate injuries. Kneedy also suffered moderate injuries that required treatment at the hospital in Monmouth while Tomlin and a 15-year old boy in his car were not hurt.

Authorities say all were wearing seatbelts. The vehicles driven by Essex and Tomlin were totaled and Kneedy's vehicle sustained major damage.

Police cited Dorothy Essex for failure to yield at a stop intersection. Assisting state police at the scene were the Warren County Sheriff's Department, Warren County Ambulance Service and Monmouth Fire and Rescue.
