Tobacco Compliance Checks Conducted; Three Businesses Cited
The good news, most Knox County businesses surveyed recently didn't sell tobacco products to minors. But the Knox County Sheriffs Department says three did, and face citations for doing so.

Sheriffs Department officials say three rounds of tobacco compliance checks wrapped up on Wednesday, part of a grant-funded program from the Illinois Liquor Control Commission. Deputies say 14 retailers were checked and of those, three were found to be in violation of state law.

Those three, the Sheriffs Department says, are J&L Tap in Maquon, the Maquon Miracle Mart, and the City Limits restaurant and bar inbetween Galesburg and Knoxville.

Sheriffs officials say they provide education to retailers on verifying the age of those selling tobacco products to minors.
