Schilling Getting Help from Unlikely Political Figure in Q-C Area
Congressional candidate Bobby Schilling, the Republican running against U.S. Representative Phil Hare, is "on the radar" for the National Republican Campaign Committee.

Schilling says the national recognition will convince potential donors of the campaign's viability. "On the radar" is a step short of being considered a "contender."

Also, Schilling will have an appearance later this month with Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, "Joe the Plumber" from the 2008 presidential campaign. The Joe the Plumber fundraiser with Schilling will be at the 5:30-10 p.m. May 22 at the Big Red Barn, 1116 330th Street in New Windsor.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain used "Joe the Plumber" as a metaphor for middle-class Americans during the 2008 campaign. Wurzelbacher subsequently published a book about his experiences, and has appeared as a motivational speaker and commentator.
