| WIEDP's Willis Resigns; Accepts Job with IIRA at Western Illinois University |
POSTED 2:07 p-m 5/11/2010 Western Illinois Economic Development Partnership's (WIEDP) board of directors has announced the resignation of Jolene Willis, the organization's community and economic development coordinator through the University of Illinois Extension Henderson-Mercer-Warren (HMW) Unit.
Willis has resigned to accept the position as Wind Energy Program Assistant at the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs (IIRA) at Western Illinois University, starting May 17, 2010.
"Jolene has been an invaluable part of our organization during her eight years of service. She has established our area as a pro-wind energy business climate and was always ready to respond to the needs of our current businesses," stated Wood Stortzum, WIEDP Chairman. "Jolene always kept her eyes focused on the well being and development of Warren County and its communities. She will be greatly missed and a hard act to follow."
"I would like to thank the WIEDP Board of Directors, past and present, for their unwavering support of establishing a community and economic development program in Warren County," commented Willis. “I believe the strength of this area in combined community leadership and industry stakeholders will be well positioned to transition WIEDP into the next phase."
Willis served as the executive director of WIEDP from 2002-2005, and as the community and economic development program coordinator for the University of Illinois Extension HMW Unit in partnership with WIEDP from 2005-2010.
WIEDP Board of Directors in cooperation with the UI Extension HMW Unit will oversee the management of the organization. Willis will work with WIEDP to wrap up some projects and help in the transition, Stortzum said.
