No Delay for Blagojevich Trial
CHICAGO (AP) -- A federal appeals court has turned down a request from former Gov. Rod Blagojevich for a delay in the start of his corruption trial.

The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Tuesday it had no jurisdiction to delay the trial which is set to get under way June 3.

Blagojevich's attorneys asked for the delay last week, saying they could not get a fair trial until after the U.S. Supreme Court acts on challenges to the federal honest-services fraud law. The law forms the basis for a number of charges against the former governor.

Blagojevich has pleaded not guilty to charges he schemed to use his power as governor to make appointments by selling or trading President Barack Obama's former U.S. Senate seat.
