New Manslaughter Charged Filed in Shooting Case
A Knox County grand jury has indicted a Galesburg woman on a new charge connected to an Easter Day shooting that left one woman injured and claimed the life of an unborn child.

27-year old Katonnia Kelley learned during what was to be a preliminary hearing in Knox County Circuit Court Tuesday that a grand jury on May 7th filed a Class-Three felony charge of Involuntary Manslaughter of an Unborn Child. She already faces a Class-X felony charge of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, and a Class-One Felony charge of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.

Kelley was arrested April fourth, after police were called to a home in the 500 block of Holton Street for what originally was thought to be a dispute, but they learned someone had allegedly been shot.

That person was 21-year old Chariot Campbell, who police say was shot in the chest and taken to a Peoria Hospital, where sources say she remains.

Campbell's unborn child, Don Charles Campbell Walker, died a day after the shooting.

Kelley will be arraigned on the new charge Thursday morning. Meantime, she remains jailed on $250,000 bond.
