Not Guilty Plea in Felony Manslaughter Case
A Galesburg woman says she's innocent of charges accusing her of opening fire on someone who reportedly was pregnant during an incident on Easter Sunday.

27-year old Katonnia Kelley pleaded not guilty during a brief appearance in Knox County Circuit Court Thursday morning during an arraignment to felony charges of Involuntary Manslaughter of a Young Child, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.

Kelley allegedly shot 21-year old Chariot Campbell in the chest during a dispute April fourth late in the afternoon in the five-hundred block of Holton Street.

Campbell was later transported to a Peoria Hospital, where her unborn child, Don Charles Campbell Walker, died a day later. A Peoria County Coroner's Jury ruled the death a homicide, and Knox County Grand Jury added the manslaughter charge last Friday.

Campbell, through Public Defender Karl Johnson, also asked for a trial by jury.

That's tentatively set for mid-July, with a pre-trial hearing scheduled for July sixth.

Kelley remains held in the Knox County Jail on $250,000 bond, after a judge last month denied a request to lower that bond so she could see her children, who are now believed to be in foster care.
