Park is Turned Into Memorial for Three Slain Kids
BEASON, Ill. (AP) -- Volunteers have transformed a worn central Illinois park into a memorial for three slain children.

About 50 people turned out in the tiny town of Beason on Saturday to paint and refurbish equipment, and install new fixtures.

The park now also has three metal benches bearing the names of 16-year-old Justina Constant, 14-year-old Dillen Constant and 11-year-old Austin Gee.

The three children were killed in September along with their parents, Rick and Ruth Gee. A 4-year-old child survived the attack.

Two men are in custody in connection with the killings.

Volunteers included the children's friends and relatives as well as strangers from as far away as St. Louis.

Some of the $20,000 for the park was raised at a community garage sale in April.
