Accused Child Sex Offender Sentenced to Additional Prison Time
A local man currently serving time in the state department of corrections will be there longer following new convictions for sex crimes against children.

The Knox County State's Attorney's Office says 30-year old Randy Lee Jr. of Galesburg pleaded guilty in court Tuesday to two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. Officials say he was convicted and sentenced in 2007 for aggravated battery of a child and received a 20 year prison term, which he's serving now.

Lee received an additional 10 years in the department of corrections and three years probation for the new convictions. Authorities say the previous and the new charges are for offenses involving different children, and Lee will serve the sentences consecutively.

Lead prosecutor Erik Gibson credited the efforts of the Knox County Child Advocacy Center, the Department of Children and Family Services, Lutheran Social Services and the Galesburg Police Department for conducting interviews and investigations that brought additional evidence and charges against Lee.

Authorities say the offenses occurred in 2005 and the most recent charges were filed after Lee's first sentence began. Judge Stephen Mathers granted a pretrial motion on April 8th to allow statements from the victim interviews to be allowed as evidence.
