Quinn Challenges Brady Campaign on Tax Returns
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Gov. Pat Quinn is seizing the issue of tax returns to challenge his Republican rival on ethics and transparency.

The Quinn campaign called Thursday for Republican Bill Brady to press his running mate to let voters see his taxes. In a letter to Brady, Quinn says voters have a right to expect openness and accountability from candidates.

Republican lieutenant governor candidate Jason Plummer won't release his returns. He hasn't explained why, except to call the issue "a distraction."

Brady let reporters examine his own returns but has said little about Plummer withholding the information.

A spokesman says Brady respects Plummer's decision.

Both Quinn and running mate Sheila Simon have made their taxes public.
