District 205 Superintendent Hospitalized After Heart Attack
Galesburg School District officials say the Superintendent will be just fine following what otherwise would be a health scare.

District-205 issued a statement Saturday indicating that Doctor Gene Denisar was rushed to Methodist Medical Center in Peoria following a heart attack on Friday.

The District says Denisar had an emergency procedure done and is expected to make a full recovery.

The statement also indicates that Denisar's family requests that the media respect their privacy during this period.

It's not clear how long Denisar will be in the hospital.

The Galesburg native took over the job of schools chief in 2005 following the departure of Doctor Neil Sappington for a position at Illinois State University.

Denisar was previously a Superintendent in school districts in Indiana and Florida.
