"Today Show" Anchor Apologizes for Confusing Her Wheatons
NORTON, Mass. (AP) -- When "Today"" show anchor Ann Curry delivered the commencement speech at Wheaton College in Massachusetts, she named a litany of distinguished alumni, including the Rev. Billy Graham, Wes Craven and Dennis Hastert.

True, the evangelist, horror movie director and former House Speaker all attended Wheaton College. But the one in Illinois, not Massachusetts.

Curry on Monday sent a letter to college President Ron Crutcher and the Wheaton community, saying she was "mortified" by the gaffe and asking for forgiveness.

The Wheaton College in Norton where Curry spoke on Saturday was a women's school until the 1980s, and has its own list of notable alumnae, including "60 Minutes" correspondent Lesley Stahl, Oscar-nominated actress Catherine Keener and former EPA Director Christie Todd Whitman.
