Giannoulias Expecting Duncan to Campaign
CHICAGO (AP) -- Democrat Alexi Giannoulias' campaign says it's getting some help from Washington in their bid for President Barack Obama's old Senate seat.

The campaign says Education Secretary Arne Duncan, the former Chicago Public Schools CEO and a basketball-playing buddy of Giannoulias', will be in town June 17th to campaign.

On June 19th, the campaign says White House Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina will be here to help with fundraising.

Giannoulias, the Illinois state treasurer, is locked in a high-stakes race against Republican Congressman Mark Kirk for Obama's old Senate seat.

Giannoulias has worked to try to recover from the political fallout of the failure of his family's Broadway Bank in April.

Kirk has made the bank failure a central issue in the election.
