Officials Continue to Stress "Click It or Ticket"
The "Click it or Ticket" campaign was in full force in Springfield Tuesday night.

IDOT, the Illinois State Police, Springfield Police, and the Jerome Police Department set up a special night-time seat-belt enforcement zone to remind drivers to buckle-up before the Memorial Day Weekend.

IDOT Division of Traffic Safety Director Mike Stout says events like this make a difference and has saved lives.

Last year in Illinois, thirty people died in crashes over the holiday weekend.

Almost 16,500 seat belt citations have been written in Illinois since May 14th when this season's Click It or Ticket campaign kicked off.

Police also remind you that it's against the law to use a cell phone behind the wheel in school or construction zones, and to expect an increase in patrols over the holidays.
