IEMA Pushes Kids Activity Book
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois emergency officials want children to be prepared for disasters too, so they're putting out an activity book for kids.

The Illinois Emergency Management Agency said Monday that the 50-page book is available for download online. It contains puzzles, word searches and mazes. The book's debut comes as the agency highlights disaster preparedness for families, school and child care providers in May.

Agency director Andrew Velasquez says helping children be prepared for disasters can "help them stay calm." The activity book was developed by the agency and the Regional Institute for Community Policing.

The state agency also says it's working on a disaster preparedness video game.
