Knoxville Makes Decision on PEO Home Lot
The Knoxville City Council is making a decision related to the PEO Home lot.

Aldermen, after an hour-long executive session Monday night to discuss the property at Broad and Main streets that's drawn interest from firms that would like to develop the vacant land, decided to find out how much it's worth.

Tom Worden's motion was unanimously supported.

The appraisal for units is believed to in reference to a proposal from Johnson Building Systems of Galesburg, which had a representative at Monday night's meeting who spoke to the city council during the closed session.

Aldermen late last year asked for ideas on what to do with the property. The city in February had received three proposals - one each from Aaron Skinner, Lance Charles and Johnson Building Systems. Skinner initially proposed a 50-unit, five to six story senior citizen apartment building. Johnson Building Systems proposed low-maintenance, two bedroom residences around the perimeter of the property. The Charles proposal was a multi-story, multiple-use building.

The city council also unanimously approved renewing its contract with the Galesburg Regional Economic Development Association for another year for $5,000. There was no discussion on the matter before aldermen cast their votes.
