IL to Get Nearly 700 New Licensed Attorneys
CHICAGO (AP) -- Illinois will soon be getting nearly 700 new licensed attorneys, bringing the state's total to almost 88,000.

Justices of the Illinois Supreme Court will administer the attorney's oath at five locations Thursday.

All of the 691 new attorneys have passed the Illinois state bar examination, an ethics examination and have been certified by the committee on character and fitness.

The Illinois bar exam is offered on the last consecutive Tuesday and Wednesday in February and July.

Ceremonies will be held in five Supreme Court judicial districts in Chicago, Elgin, Ottawa, Springfield and Collinsville.

The largest group of 472 will be admitted in Chicago. Chief Justice Thomas Fitzgerald will preside over the ceremony.
