U of I President Says There's No More Clout
The president of the University of Illinois says there is no political pressure related to admissions.

Stanley Ikenberry says there haven't been any clout admissions at the state's flagship university since the Admission Review Commission was appointed to investigate last year.

Ikenberry’s comments come after an investigation found Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) recommended 28 students in three recent years for admission to the U of I.

"The fact is I think, those inquiries, whatever they were in the past, have now dropped to essentially zero so whatever issues (the university) were looking at are 10 years in the rear-view mirror not contemporary practice," Ikenberry said.

Gov. Pat Quinn formed the Admission Review Commission after it was discovered that some politicians kept clout lists and recommended applicants to the U of I admission office. Ikenberry says there is now "zero tolerance" for clout admissions.
