May is Older Americans Month in Illinois
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois officials are highlighting services for seniors during Older Americans Month in May.

One program is the Community Care Program of the Department on Aging. It offers services such as case management, in-home care, emergency home response and adult day services.

Eligibility for CCP has expanded in the recent years.

State officials work with Area Agencies on Aging to make sure seniors benefit from services under the federal Older Americans Act. They include assistance, respite, transportation and home-delivered meals.

The theme is "Age Strong! Live Long"' and recognizes "the diversity and vitality of today's older Americans" who are 55 or older, officials say.
